Artur Homem, borned in Oliveira do Hospital (Portugal) in 1964, has shown a profound sense of aesthetics and artistic sensitivity from an early age. As a child, he was already involved in creating models, influenced by his father, who was a civil engineer. These early steps in the conception and execution of models influenced his decision to pursue the artistic field. He enrolled at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, completing his degree in Equipment Design in 1987. In 2011, he returned to the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, completing in 2013 the curricular part of the Master's degree in Equipment Design, specializing in Urban and Interior Design, which awarded him a Postgraduate Diploma.
Since 1997, his main passion and artistic focus has been watercolor, starting with very realistic depictions, which he later moved away from, favoring works where the spontaneity of the brushstroke and expressiveness are paramount.
Artur Homem draws inspiration from renowned artists such as Joseph Zbukvic and Alvaro Castagnet, among others, as well as from the Impressionist Movement, which emerged in the second half of the 19th century and influenced his style and approach to watercolor.
He currently lives in a small village in the western region, where his creativity finds inspiration and stimulation in the beauty of nature and his surroundings.
He has participated in both solo and group exhibitions and frequently holds exhibitions for a limited audience at his studio in Praça da Fruta (Caldas da Rainha) to meet requests from admirers of his work. From July 29 to August 17, 2024, he opened his studio to the general public for the first time with an exhibition titled “Summer Time.” His work can be visited by appointment.
